Top 5 Tuesday – Top 5 Bookish Habits

Hey Bookwyrms! I’m so excited to participate in Shanah’s Top 5 Tuesday this month. If you’d like to check out the different prompts for February and participate, click here .

Will I be judged for what I’m about to share? Maybe. But I have been mentally preparing for this all week lol

Dog-earring pages

I know, I know! Cardinal sin #1. I’m a monster! Growing up, I didn’t really like bookmarks because I always ended up losing them. And so, folding the tops of pages just became habit. It wasn’t until I joined the book community that I realized how much of a no-no it is.

Messy Snack Eating

So I may or may not have a habit of getting so deep in a book that I refuse to allow external things like thirst and hunger stop me from diving head first into a story. And maybe that means picking up chips like Cheetos or White Cheddar popcorn that tend to leave little crumbles and dust on my fingers. Which is then transferred to the pages. Trust me, I end up cursing my past self when I pick these books up for a re-read all the time.

Complete Silence

Can I read in the midst of a hurricane, thunderstorm chaotic mess and still be engrossed in a book? Yes! Do I necessarily like it? Not so much. Apart from maybe some low smooth jazz music, I prefer silence when I read.

Constant re-reading

Weirdly enough, I tend to re-read a scene that I enjoy. And I don’t mean after I’ve finished the book. I mean while I’m reading, if there’s a scene with great dialogue or a treasure find discovery, I’ll go back and re-read it again in the moment. There’s just something so gratifying about new information or falling in love with a character that I want to relive it again right there, right now.

Diarrhea of the Mouth

Like so many of my fellow bloggers and book reviewers, I have to be in front of my computer after finishing a book that I intend to review. I have to get all my thoughts, feelings, and concerns out as soon as possible. I fear when I don’t do that, I’m unable to relay the depth of emotion or impact the book had on me. And also the older I get the easier it is for me to forget the little things. I thrive off of the little things lol

And there you have it, my top 5 bookish habits! I hope after reading these you will still keep your trust in me. Maybe you have some of the same habits? let me know in the comments down below!
