This month is extra special because we’re highlighting authors! I’ve decided to go by last name since that’s usually the first thing I see on book spines. But you can choose to go by first or last names. No pressure in these parts.
P & Q : Unfortunately I don’t have a top author whose last name begins with P or Q.
R: Taylor Jenkins Reid & CJ Redwine
Favorite Books: Maybe In Another Life and The Shadow Queen
Looking Forward to: Daisy Jones & The Six and The Blood Spell
Taylor Jenkins Reid was an accidental find. Prior to the whirlwind popularity of The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo, I’d been on the hunt for a book written in a format I was unfamiliar with. And Maybe In Another Life was exactly what I needed! I loved every second of the book and her writing style. Although Daisy Jones & The Six was released about a year ago, I have yet to pick it up. However, I’m looking forward to reading it sometime this year/
Much like Reid, C.J. Redwine was also an unintentional find! I have fallen deeply in love with her fairytale retellings. And after the final season of Once Upon a Time, I desperately needed the Ravenspire series! I can’t wait to read the Cinderella re-telling The Blood Spell.
S: Nic Stone and V.E. Schwab
Favorite Books: Dear Martin and This Savage Song
Looking Forward to: Dear Justyce and Vengeful
Nic Stone is effortlessly a favorite! I adore her writing style but what solidified my love, is her authentic personality. She’s unapologetically herself wherever she goes and I love it! Dear Martin was one of my favorite books in 2018 and I am so excited that I received an ARC of Dear Justyce which is set to release on October 6th, 2020.
I fell into V.E. Schwab’s work based on recommendations from some of my favorite booktubers. I absolutely adored the Monsters of Verity duology (This Savage Song and Our Dark Duet) and was intrigued by the darkness of the Villains (Vicious & Vengeful) duology. I’m looking forward to finally picking up Vengeful in the coming year.
T: Angie Thomas and K.A. Tucker
Favorite Books: The Hate U Give and Four Seconds to Lose
Looking Forward to: Nothing for now
Angie Thomas is another quick and effortless favorite. I loved The Hate U Give and On The Come Up and I’m looking forward to more of her work!
K.A. Tucker sort of snuck up on me! Four Seconds to Lose was the second book (first being Until It Fades) I read by her. And it wasn’t until I finished it, that I realized it was apart of the Ten Tiny Breaths series. I ended up finishing the series in proper order as well as other books like, Say You Still Love Me and The Simple Wild. Her recent release Wild at Heart is already a fan favorite and I highly recommend it.
And there you have it! Another list of some of my favorite authors and books! Do we have any in common? Let me know in the comments down below!
