Top 5 Books That Made Me Laugh – Top 5 Tuesday

Hey Bookwyrms! I’m so excited to participate in Shanah’s (Bionic Book Worm) Top 5 Tuesday! If you’d like to check out the different prompts for April and participate, click here.

I will admit it was hard to figure out what five books have made me laugh recently. But I realized that I’ve had the pleasure of reading some great books this year, so far, that have either made me crack a smile or literally roll on the floor with laughter. Here are a few of my favorites:

Love Her or Lose Her

Although this story is filled with loads of sexual tension and pain from a strained marriage, there were also many scenes filled with witty banter. Whether it was between the main character Rosie and her friends or Rosie and Dominic, I had my fair share of laughs. I recommend picking this up if you’re in the mood for a somewhat light read chocked full of smut lol

Not the Girl You Marry

I gave this book three palm leaves out of five and one of those palm leaves was definitely because of the fire cracker banter between the main characters, Jack and Hannah. Now I’ll be honest Hannah is a girl after my own heart but what I wasn’t expecting was for Jack to be able to keep up and throw some of it back to her. I lived for their scenes!

Dear Haiti, Love Alaine

Alaine is hands down my favorite main character of 2020! She felt like the best friend I needed in high school. While reading the story literally everything I thought, or wanted to say Alaine also thought and said. Her quick wit and authenticity made this one of the best reading experience so far this year.

Slay

Slay touched on a number of important and serious themes. However, that didn’t mean I didn’t get some good laughs. Kierra and Steph were maybe the most hilarious sister duo I’ve read so far. I highly recommend checking this YA novel out if you haven’t already!

Stalking Jack the Ripper

Thomas Cresswell is definitely the prince of slick and inappropriate comments. Which made him the most entertaining character in this mostly serious murder mystery. I just finished Hunting Prince Dracula, and he is still hands down my favorite character in the series!

And there you have it! Five books that made me laugh! Luckily enough, I read most of these books around the start of the COVID-19 outbreak and they’ve definitely helped me with my panic and anxiety through these uncertain times.
