Top 5 Popular Books I Haven’t Read Yet – Top 5 Tuesday

Hey Bookwyrms! I’m so excited to participate in Shanah’s (Bionic Book Worm) Top 5 Tuesday! If you’d like to check out the different prompts for April and participate, click here.

Depending on the author — I will always buy Sarah J Maas and Angie Thomas books on release day  — I don’t feel like I usually give in to popular books unless I really like the cover and summary. But my bookstagram page would beg to differ. What can I say, I’m a complex bookwyrm.

Here are some of the popular books I haven’t read yet:

Daisy Jones & The Six

I discovered Taylor Jenkins Reid prior to The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo craze! And it was then that I decided I would hold off on reading the book because I didn’t want the hype to sway me. I’m glad I did! It gave me room to enjoy the story on my own and I had tons of friends I could talk to about it. I’m sort of doing the same thing with Daisy Jones & The Six. I’m planning on picking this one up sometime this year. I just haven’t decided if I want to listen to it on audio or read it physically or on e-book.

The Night Circus

I’m cheating a little bit with this one. I have tried to read The Night Circus at least three times. And each time, I make it to a certain point in the book and just give up. I find Erin Morgenstern’s writing engaging. But I think I get frustrated with the constant tension and sudden whiplash that comes with reading this book.I intend on finishing this sometime in the future. When that will be exactly? I’m not sure

The Belles

For the most part, I’m just kicking myself for not reading this one yet. It’s a fantasy read set in one of my favorite and must-see cities, New Orleans. What more could I ask for? I just need to pick it up. No excuses!

The Priory of the Orange Tree

Okay so I have made tons of excuses about not reading The Priory of the Orange Tree that are easy to debunk:

  1. Way too much hype: The thing is I’ve read books with equal or almost as much hype.
  2. It’s massive: Kingdom of Ash, Queen of Air and Darkness and House of Earth and Blood. Try again Kim.
  3. Adult Fantasy can be dense, making it hard to get into the story: True but I should still give it a try. A few of my trusty bookwyrms have highly recommended it. And truth be told I really want to read this.

Heartstopper Series

I’ve wanted to read more graphic novels for the past few years. And these are high up on my list! I’ve heard nothing but excellent things about them. But I’ve somehow let the volumes fall between the cracks. I’m honestly hoping to pick them up soon.

And there you have it! Have you read any of these? What are some popular books you have yet to read?
